... not sure why as they were fine but well. Thought I would still share.
Next is a full respray of the car done by the Garage Hamelin, in Tours, France, one of the best Alpine specialist in the world... According to him, the paint is crackling a bit at some points... I haven’t seen the car for almost a year but I somehow doubt it really needs it also. That would be the second respray in 40+ years of ownership (fairly normal for those cars, the paint crackling problem is fairly common).
I try to convince him to install a 1800 rear-axle with a LSD, but not sure if he will as he wants to keep it 100% stock. Oh well...

Car looks really nice!

He’ll do a BC/CC paint job, correct?

The whole car will be stripped down, fully sanded and fully repainted yes... It will take a while and probably cost an arm lol

Reason I ask is because some “old timer” paint/resto guys I know say that single stage and lacquer paints are more prone to spidering and cracking. Take that for what it’s worth I guess.

Is it fun to drive?

It will be redone just like it was at the factory... cracks or not :)

It’s fast and fun yes :)
A LSD would make it even more fun though...

That looks glorious. Going to keep the same color I’m assuming?

Yes, nothing will change...

That thing is amazing! The wheels look great. How does it drive? One in that exact color is on my bucket list.

You’re in luck 60 or 70% of them are in that color haha
It’s pretty fast (700kg for 140hp), not that tail happy compared the 1600S thanks to the A310 rear axle and suspension... Other than that, it would take me an entire article to describe the whole thing haha

Nah he could have bought something nice lol... He wanted a freaking SUV because some of a the paragliding sites he goes to are “hard to access”... Didn’t matter he could still access them before with his Golf...

Looks great! Did he go to the reveal last April in Monte Carlo and join that trip with over 100 Alpines driving up to the Hotel de Trois Vallees? Amy Shore made an excellent portrait of that event, if you’ve got time check it out . Be warned: took me over 2 hours to complete the scrolling...

Nope he didn’t go... Not his kind of stuff. He has been talking about getting the new Alpine though. I keep on telling him it’s gonna be nothing like what he’s used to, but he doesn’t listen and just wants it because “new Alpine”...
I wouldn’t buy one if I could afford it. It’s just a badge on a car that shares NOTHING but vague design hints with the A110... So nope, not for me.

Haha, you can’t teach an old dog new tricks! I’m highly intrigued by the new one, if it’s price is decent I am interested. But with our tax system it probably will be out of reach ;-)
I ran into two Dutch A110s heading for that meeting back then!

Around 60000 euros in France... So... A lot more in Holland lol.
I think he’ll be seriously desappointed once he understands how its gearbox really feels like... I think he has driven automatics twice in his life lol.

It all depends on how the ECE fuel consumption is over here nowadays. It’s “only” a four-banger but still will be over 70k I’m afraid ;-)
My Volvo was more expensive than that but that one had a massive (30K!) tax-refund for being able to drive the ECE with less than 50 CO. Yes. I’m that cheap ;-)

I’d never seen one of those cars before, bit it’s very handsome. And Pops’ wheels look awesome and they really make the profile. And I like the old-school 70-series aspect ratio. The rubber bands they put on cars nowadays are idiotic.
